In practice the decision is rarely about which instrument is best. It is about which failure you keep running into.
If you discard tests for fixation losses and cannot trust progression data, tracking is the feature that matters: COMPASS, or the VF2000 NEO at a different price point.
If the question is central function rather than peripheral field (injections, low vision, macular degeneration), standard perimetry is the wrong test and MAIA is the right one.
If perimetry is not happening at all because there is no lane and no one trained to run it, the VF2000 removes both obstacles. A test performed beats a better test skipped.
